SOCOTEC works to optimise the constructed environment.

The spearheads of our approach are health, comfort, energy and safety.

This can be guaranteed in the design of new buildings. In existing buildings which are not up to par or require improvement, we can carry out theoretical and practical research and provide advice on how to improve.

For example, a building simulation to test the building design with the technology applied against the expected performance during use or simulating the energy production of photovoltaic panels

Using Vabi Elements we can also calculate the cooling load or heat loss. With regard to building optimisation and energy performance, we offer advice about which installations should be applied to achieve the performance desired.

Energy performance

Calculations

gebouwprestatie

The Energy Performance calculation determines the Energy Performance indicators (BENG).

In the Netherlands, these energy indicators for new constructions are determined in three requirements:

  1. EP1, the maximum energy requirement in kWh/m² usable area per year
  2. EP2, the maximum primary fossil energy consumption in kWh/m² usable area per year
  3. EP3, the minimum share of renewable energy in percent

For existing buildings, the energy label is determined on the basis of the EP2, the primary fossil energy consumption.

We can amongst other things assist you with regard to Energy Performance calculations. These determine the Energy Performance indicators (BENG). To be permitted to register Energy Performance calculations, a consultant must be qualified and the company certified in accordance with BRL-9500 W (homes and residential buildings) and/or U (utility buildings). SOCOTEC has qualified consultants who use their expertise every day to carry out Energy Performance calculations.

Our take on the

Building Code calculations

gebouwprestatie

To prove that a building meets the requirements of the Building Code, various calculations have to be presented when applying for a permit.

We can assist you by carrying out amongst others the following calculations:

  • Building permit application EP-W
  • Building permit application EP-W in combination with advisory EP-W
  • Final acceptance EP-W (energy label)
  • Environmental Performance calculation buildings (MPG)
  • Rc and U value NTA8800
  • Daylight calculation
  • Ventilation calculation
  • Surface area calculation
  • Calculation of exceeding temperature limits
