An initial / delivery inspection in accordance with NEN 1010 assures you that your new electrical installation or a considerable expansion of the existing one has been installed in accordance with the current legislation and is safe to use.

NEN 1010

NEN 1010 is the standard for (low-voltage) electrical installations. The aim of NEN 1010 is to design and build a safe installation. Thus electrical installations may not lead to dangerous situations and they must be protected against overheating as a result of an overload. To achieve this, NEN 1010 contains many principles and requirements that the installations must meet.

Some of the requirements relate to the design of the electrical installations, others to the building of the installation, such as requirements for the materials to be used, the earthing and equalization used, choosing the right fuses, etc.

The role of electrical inspections

If you want to take an entirely or partly new installation safely into use, you should have an initial inspection carried out in accordance with NEN 1010.

The aim of the inspection is to check whether the low-voltage electrical installations meet the technical regulations and safety standards that applied when the (part of the) installation to be inspected was built

Stock is taken of any deviations that could hinder the installation’s functioning or be a possible source of danger, so that they can be resolved and a safe installation can be achieved for the users

The Building Code prescribes NEN 1010 for newly built installations. So electrical installations in buildings must be implemented in accordance with this standard. To ascertain that a new installation meets these important requirements, an initial inspection, also called the delivery inspection, is carried out

So you have this inspection carried out to thoroughly check whether your electrical installation meets the safety regulations stipulated in NEN 1010 and can be used without any risk to people and the building

Having this inspection carried out by an employee of SOCOTEC means you are certain that it will be done professionally, expertly and with the regulations applied correctly

The inspection is carried out by means of visual checks and measurements

Everything is checked during this inspection. So it is a very extensive and intensive inspection of the entirety of your new electrical installations

The inspection is an initial or delivery inspection. So it is only carried out once

If you change a significant part of an existing installation, then the inspection must be carried out again for the new part
